Anna Daniel, 33, was jailed at a Karu Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday for allegedly stealing her customer’s cell phone valued N94,000.
The suspect was charged with criminal trespass and theft by the police.
The defendant, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the accusation.
Mr Olanrewaju Osho, the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the defendant went into the complainant’s store in Kurudu, Abuja, to plait her hair and stole the phone.
According to Osho, the defendant also stole two additional cell phones from another customer.
He said during the police investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Malam Umar Mayana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He said that the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction, and their addresses verified by a court officer and police officer from emanating division.
The judge adjourned the case until May 16 for further hearing.
