A 22-year-old man, Ismail Bello, on Wednesday, appeared before a Sharia Court in Kano for allegedly stealing a cell phone worth N15,000.
The defendant, who lives in Sharada Quarters, Kano, was arraigned a count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, one Naziru Sunusi of Gwale Quarters, reported the matter at Gwale Police Station, Kano, on May 23.
Wada said that Bello, on the said date, at 8:30 p.m., went to the complainant’s shop at Gwale, pretended to be assisting him with the sales of his goods and in the process, stole the complainant’s handset worth N15, 000.
The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10,000, with one surety who must be his blood relation.
Lawal-Abubakar, thereafter, adjourned the matter till June 6 for trial.
